توافد عدد كبير من أنصار الفصائل الشيعية إلى ساحة التحرير (وسط العاصمة العراقية بغداد)، للمشاركة في إحياء الذكرى الأولى لمقتل قائد فيلق القدس الإيراني قاسم سليماني، وأبو مهدي المهندس، نائب رئيس هيئة الحشد الشعبي، بضربة جوية أميركية قرب مطار بغداد مطلع العام الماضي.

A large number of supporters of the Shiite factions flocked to Tahrir Square (in the center of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad), to participate in the commemoration of the first anniversary of the killing of the Iranian Quds Force commander, Qassem Soleimani, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, deputy head of the Popular Mobilization Authority, in an American air strike near Baghdad airport early last year.

وتشهد الشوارع المؤدية إلى ساحة التحرير منذ ساعات الصباح الأولى تدفق المئات من أنصار هذه الفصائل؛ للمشاركة في المظاهرة، التي ستنطلق في وقت لاحق من هذا اليوم، في ظل إجراءات أمنية مشددة، وانتشار كثيف للقوات العسكرية والأمنية والاستخباراتية وقوات الحشد الشعبي.
